Our partner in Mexico installed 460pcs solar street lights with IOT function, it’s a public project which with IOT required.
- Products: Integrated Solar Street Light
- Power: 60W
- Quantity: 460pcs
- Height: 12 meter
- Distance: 12-20m between each light
1. Selection of the construction site
Inspect the construction site and surrounding environment to ensure the feasibility of project implementation.
- There should be no shelter around the installation site of the street lamp to ensure that the solar cells can be lit normally, and if it is difficult to ensure that there is no shelter throughout the day, try to ensure that there is no shelter between 9:00 a.m. and 15:00 p.m.
- The installation site must be well drained, and if there is a low-lying water point such as a river or puddle within 10 meters of the installation site, the lowest point of the foundation must be higher than the highest water level in 50 years.
- Public facilities such as cables and optical cables cannot be laid underground at the installation site.
- According to the construction design, determine the position of the light pole and the distance of the lamp, and if there is a change on the site, the solution should be negotiated with the owner in time.
2. The light pole foundation is embedded
Dig a pit at the positioning of the lamp pole to make the foundation of the lamp pole: the company provides the basic embedded drawings of the corresponding specifications of the street lamp
- After excavation, it is necessary to use the ground wire brazing to explore the underground without obstacles and underground pipelines, if there is any should be translated and away, and barbaric construction must be avoided.
- The foundation pit is laid with a cushion 8 cm thick.
- The concrete for foundation pouring should be processed and made in a centralized manner, mixed evenly with a mixer, and transported to the construction site by vehicle.
- When pouring concrete independent foundation on the cushion, it should be vibrated while pouring; before the end of pouring, the anchor bolt embedded parts should be buried, and the anchor bolt should be grouting for the second time.
- Pay attention to the bolt protection measures on the foundation of the light pole to prevent damage to the bolt.
- Under the embedded threading pipe (protective pipe), a special person should be set up to align the foundation outlet hole with the battery outlet hole in a timely manner, and the upper port should be located in the middle of the embedded part, and higher than 5 cm above the concrete embedded part (to avoid water ingress), try to avoid bending the embedded threading pipe, its inner diameter shall not be less than 1.5 times the outer diameter of the steel wire hose worn, if the protective pipe is bent, shall not be less than 2 times, to avoid dead bending as much as possible. Keep the lower port slightly tilted downward. The nozzle must be blocked with something to avoid mud and sand and other debris from pouring into the pipe during the construction process to block the threading pipe.
- After the pouring is completed, the embedded parts are adjusted horizontally and the concrete foundation surface is smoothed.
- Before installing the light pole foundation, it is necessary to find the verticality from the two directions, and monitor the verticality during the installation process, and the verticality deviation is not more than 5 mm to ensure the verticality of the light pole.
- The foundation must be made for 2-5 days (according to the ambient temperature at the time of construction, grasped by the construction personnel) of the maintenance, in the maintenance process, the upper surface of the foundation is tested from time to time to ensure its level, if it does not meet the requirements, it should be repaired in time.
3. Install batteries and buried battery boxes
- There should be no water accumulation in the buried place of the battery.
- Before burying the battery box, a working pit should be dug first, and the size is generally 1 meter * 1 meter * 1 meter or larger (the length and width vary according to the specifications of the battery buried box, and the depth varies from region to region, so it should be guaranteed to be below the local frozen layer).
- After excavation, it is necessary to use the ground line to explore the underground without obstacles and underground pipelines, and if there is any, it should be smoothly awayed, and barbaric construction should be avoided.
- The detection battery voltage is higher than 12.6 volts (12 volt system) is qualified, and then the battery is placed horizontally in the battery box, fixed firmly to ensure that the battery terminals are bright and dirt-free, if necessary, use a wire brush or sandpaper to polish the terminals, firmly connect the battery output wire (positive and negative electrodes are separated), two wires are jacketed with a steel wire hose, and then set on the wire nozzle of the battery box (the overlapping length is about 25 mm), and the double steel wire ring hoop is used to tighten in the center. Do a good job of waterproof, anti-corrosion, anti-short circuit, and thermal insulation treatment, and finally cover the upper cover of the battery box and do waterproof treatment.
- After the working pit is dug, start to bury the battery box, find the levelness of the battery box, and the inner diameter of the embedded threading pipe (protective pipe) shall not be less than 1.5 times the outer diameter of the steel wire hose worn, and when the protective pipe is bent, it shall not be less than 2 times to avoid dead bending.
- The protective tube shall not have perforations, cracks and uneven defects, and the inner wall shall be smooth and free of burrs and debris.
- The steel wire hose is passed out of the ground from the bottom up, and the backfill earthwork is restored to the original road surface after installation, and the construction site is cleaned.
4. Install solar photovoltaic panels
- Flatten the solar panel bracket (which may cause the plate holder to bend during transportation) so that the solar panel can sit flat on it.
- Firmly fix the solar panel on the bracket with bolts, nuts, and gaskets, and the junction box should be located above when the solar cell is placed vertically, and the junction box should be closer to the direction near the light pole assembly when the solar cell is placed horizontally.
5. Connect the solar cell cable
- The system voltage is 12 volts or 24 volts connection.
- Connect the red wire to the positive pole of the solar panel and the black wire to the negative pole of the solar panel, and then tighten the waterproof sealing nut under the junction box so that the wire is fastened in the junction box.
- After the connection of the two wires is completed, be sure to measure whether there is voltage at the output. The terminal head of the red wire is positive, and the terminal head of the black wire is negative. The open-circuit voltage of the module should be greater than 17-18 volts (12 volt system) or 34-36 volts (24 volt system) in good weather. When the light is low, the voltage is lower.
- Series-parallel connection of solar panels: If the solar panels need to be connected in series or parallel, there must be a reverse diode in the junction box of the solar panel. If the system voltage of the street lamp is 24 volts and the voltage of the solar cell module is 17-18 volts, the solar cell modules should be connected in series, and the method of series connection is that the positive electrode (or negative electrode) of the first module and the negative electrode (or positive electrode) of the second module are connected, and if the voltage of the solar cell module is 34-36 volts, the solar cell modules should be connected in parallel, and the method of parallel connection is that the positive and negative electrodes of the first module and the positive and negative electrodes of the second module are connected correspondingly.
- After all the wiring is completed, close the lid of the junction box and tighten it with screws.
- After checking that it is correct, you can do the next step of the solar cell.
6. Installation of lamp poles, lamps and lanterns, and cables
- Before the installation of the light pole, the weld of the lamp pole should be visually checked to be symmetrical and without false welding, and the spraying should be free of bulges, pinholes, cracks or leakage spray, etc., and the straightness error of the shaft should be less than 3%.
- When installing the light pole, try to prevent strangulation or cutting of the surface coating, and it is strictly forbidden to use the wire rope sleeve to strangle or throw it down from the car.
- The installation of the light pole should be upright, the vertical deviation should not be greater than half of the diameter of the lamp tip, the light pole should be set up on a line parallel to the longitudinal axis of the road, and the lateral displacement should not be greater than half the diameter of the pole.
- Before installing the light source, it is necessary to check whether it is normal, so as to avoid unnecessary trouble later on the installation that may be damaged in transit.
- The installation of lamps and lanterns should be upright, and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the road, the error is not more than 3 degrees, and there is no skew phenomenon after installation.
- When the lamp pole is installed, the bolts of each part should be flattened and the spring gasket should be firm, and the bolt should not be less than two pitches after tightening.
- The bolts of the lamp head and the lamp body must be tightened, and the parts that may rotate under wind pressure should be reinforced.
- Borrow pre-threaded wire to thread the wire. When threading, it is forbidden to pull hard, so as not to cause scratches or even breakage of the sheath line. There must be sufficient margin for the sheath cable connecting the solar cell module and the light source, and the power cable connecting the controller should be bent down to prevent the water from flowing into the terminal block.
7. Adjust the direction and angle of the solar panel
- Adjust the angle of the solar panel according to the design requirements.
- Use the compass to adjust the front of the solar panel, facing due south (equatorial direction).
- After the adjustment, tighten the fixing bolts.
8. Connection of the controller
- The output line of the solar cell, the output line of the lamp head and the connection line of the battery. These three sets of wires should be connected to the controller, and the connection sequence is: 1, connect the battery 2, connect the load (light source) 3, connect the solar cell (operate according to the requirements of the installed controller). If this wiring sequence is violated, the entire system will not work properly.
- Connect the battery first. First measure the voltage of the battery, whether it is within the specified range, and then do a good job of the positive and negative wires of the battery (no burrs on the metal head.) The length of the metal head is determined according to the depth of the terminal hole of the controller, not too long, in order to avoid the lap short circuit between the wires), after the wire head is connected, insert the positive pole into the battery “+” terminal hole marked on the controller, and tighten the screws, the negative pole is connected to the corresponding “-” terminal hole, detect whether there is voltage, pay attention to the operation of the wiring to be careful, do not let the positive and negative poles of the battery through the case or the tools in the hand cause a short circuit.
- After the battery is connected to the controller, the controller starts to work, and the corresponding battery indicator lights up. After ten minutes, there should be voltage at the output end of the load, connect the load (light source), and the light source will be lit immediately.
- Then connect the load (light source), unplug the sheath of the light source, the red line is the positive pole, and the black is the negative pole. Connect them separately to the load terminals of the controller (in the “+” and “-” terminal holes of the light source marked on the controller). Note: The positive and negative poles should not be connected incorrectly, otherwise the load may be damaged.
- After the light comes on, after another minute or two, the solar panel can be connected.
- Finally, connect the solar panels. Unplug the wire jacket of the solar panel, the red line is the positive pole, and the black wire is the negative pole. Measure the voltage between the lines first, when the light is low, the voltage is lower, and the open-circuit voltage of the module should be greater than 18 volts (12 volts system) or 36 volts (24 volt system) in good weather. The positive and negative poles of the solar cell are not afraid of short circuit in a short time, and the two wires of the solar cell are connected to the corresponding terminals of the controller. Note that the positive and negative poles cannot be misconnected.
- After the controller is connected to the solar cell, if there is enough voltage (more than 10 volts) on the solar panel, the controller considers it to be in the state of dawn. After 10 minutes, the street lights will be turned off. When you turn the lights on again, you have to wait until it gets dark.
- At this point, all the wires of the controller have been connected. It is necessary to carefully check: whether the connection between the terminal block of the controller and the three sets of wires is connected, whether there are burrs, whether there are metal wires exposed, and whether the screws of the fixed wires are tightened.
9. Trial operation
- Before the trial operation, a detailed inspection should be done, and the controller, solar cell cable, load cable, battery cable, and insurance should be carefully checked to see if they are connected.
- After operation, send someone to inspect the light on time, light off time, and luminous efficiency of each solar street lamp, and immediately take corrective measures to ensure normal operation if problems are found.
- Do a good job of operation records and establish file management.
10. Precautions
- When installing the battery assembly, handle it with care, and it is strictly forbidden to short circuit the component or throw the component.
- The battery component cable should be fixed firmly at the bracket to prevent the power cord from loosening or even falling off due to long-term sagging or pulling.
- When installing the lamp head and light source, it should be handled with care to ensure that the light transmission cover is clean and free of scratches, and it is strictly forbidden to roll and throw.
- Do not touch the battery terminals when moving the battery, and it is strictly forbidden to short-circuit or roll or throw the battery.
- Pay attention to the positive and negative poles when wiring, it is strictly forbidden to connect the opposite, the terminal crimp is firm, no loosening, and the connection sequence should be paid attention to, and it is strictly forbidden to short-circuit the line.
- Do not touch the “+” and “-” poles of the solar cell module or battery at the same time to prevent the risk of electric shock.
- For street lights with inverter power supply, the inverter outputs high-voltage electricity, which is life-threatening to touch.
- Scratching the lamp body should be avoided during installation.
